Italian speaking practice and grammar tutoring
Before Christmas, I read that this new show based on Elena Ferrante’s book would debut on Netflix on January 5th and I thought I had better read the book before watching the tv series.
As you may know very well since I constantly repeat it in my posts, I am always on the hunt for good Italian books to recommend here on the blog and, when I find one, I am truly delighted.
As a matter of fact, she has written In altre parole, one of the most popular books about learning Italian, a book that many students have read – either in Italian or in English – and that many have loved.
Our language and everyday conversations are full of references to some Italian comedy movies that everybody has watched at least once in their lives.
I am happy because the English translation of the book means that I can recommend it in this section of my blog. In fact, as you may know if you have been reading my blog for a while, when I recommend an Italian book I always make sure it is available in English too.
We have been celebrating Christmas in the same way and with more or less the same food for years. Every year we gather around the same table, with the same people, and we eat more or less the same dishes.
It’s again time for me to interview someone who has decided to make Italy their home and to learn more about their experience and their views of Italy after being here for a while.
As you may know, I really love books and I am always reading something. I read all sorts of books but, every now and then, I pick Italian books with one specific purpose: finding good reads for people who are specifically interested in Italian literature or just want to read a book by an Italian author.
I really think that my English could be way better and that I should work harder to improve it. However, a question that I get quite frequently is “How did you learn English?” and I thought that maybe I could answer it by writing a post about my experience with this great language.
I bet you know a lot of them! Lots of Italians – like Andrea Bocelli, Sophia Loren, and Federico Fellini, just to name the first three that come to my mind – are famous all over the world. But there are a lot of lesser-known Italians that have done incredible things in their lives and that are definitely worth knowing.
