Italian speaking practice and grammar tutoring
Actually, it is not exactly a book because of its very unique format but it can absolutely be read as a non-fiction book about Rome and about what it really means to live in the city.
For the first time since I opened the blog, I have a guest writer. I really love writing posts for the blog, it’s probably one of my most favorite activities, so I never thought of asking someone to be my guest.
Every time, it is an opportunity for me to learn more and to see life in Italy through different eyes. When I began interviewing expats, it was because I didn’t want this blog to be too focused on my personal Italian-native experience and I wanted to offer a more accurate view of Italian life.
It’s been a really strange year – I am being kind, 2020 – and Christmas won’t make an exception. Christmas is all about traditions and knowing that everything will be the same, year after year, but this obviously cannot be said for this year.
Liguria is famous for its picturesque towns by the sea but if you are willing to explore further on the hills, you’ll find some places that perfectly represent the character of Liguria: introverted, shy, not talkative at all.
In particular, I really like visiting gardens and I am very lucky to live in Italy because there are a lot of very beautiful Italian gardens to visit and enjoy.
I have discovered this book via the lovely Jasmine on Instagram. If you have been following this blog for a while, you may remember her interview for my Expats in Italy section. She has a very interesting Instagram account, which shows her love for Italy and gives you a nice way to learn more about expat life in Italy (in her stories, especially).
To be more precise, it’s not someone but a couple: Ilene and Gary Modica of Our Italian Journey, a blog that tells the story of their one-year trip around Italy. As it happens in most cases, I have virtually met Ilene because she commented to a post on my blog. In the comment, she left a link to her blog: when I checked it and briefly learned about their story, I immediately sent an email to Ilene asking her if she was interested in being featured here.
If you are visiting tourist places, they might be quite crowded but there are so many unique traditions and celebrations around the country that you will easily forget about the crowds.
When April sent me her replies to my questions for my Expats in Italy interview, she told me to cut and edit as I wanted – and I actually did, a little bit – but I just couldn’t take out what was written in her answers, it was too full of wisdom to be taken away.
