I have specifically created this ‘Hidden Italy’ series to write about places that you might not know or that might not be on the usual not-to-miss list of Italian destinations.
The fact that Friuli is not a popular tourist destination is a real pity because the region is so nice that it really deserves to be more famous but it is also a blessing for those who visit it because Friuli is beautiful, authentic, genuine, and not crowded at all.
I always make a point of visiting places that are outside the main tourist routes. I do this because I love discovering new locations and also because I am always on the hunt for places that I think you might find interesting and worth exploring.
It’s again time for me to interview someone who has decided to make Italy their home and to learn more about their experience and their views of Italy after being here for a while.
I have been (virtually) chatting with expats for years now, I ask them more or less the same questions, yet I am always amazed at how special and unique every interview is.
As you may know, I really love chatting with expats because it’s a great way to see life in Italy from a different point of view and also because I get to (virtually) meet a lot of really cool people with lots of awesome stories to tell. [Read more…]
In February 2020, with incredible timing, I have subscribed to FAI, the National Trust for Italy, a non-profit organization whose main goal is to protect Italian places promoting their knowledge, care, and conservation.
Today I am chatting again with someone who has decided to make Italy her home and this makes me really happy. I have had this section on my blog for years now and I still am super excited when I have the chance of chatting with an expat. It’s always a real pleasure for me!
Liguria is famous for its picturesque towns by the sea but if you are willing to explore further on the hills, you’ll find some places that perfectly represent the character of Liguria: introverted, shy, not talkative at all.
Today I have the pleasure of interviewing one of my students, a lovely lady called Susan Dufresne. Susan lives in a place I had never heard of, a small town in Campania called Guardia Sanframondi, and the tales of her life there are so interesting that I asked her to share her experience.
