What makes Be Italian For A Year different from Be Italian For A Month? Why should I choose one or the other?
I have been getting a few of these questions lately and I decided to turn them into a post, which gives me the opportunity of giving an answer to those who asked me and maybe clearing things to other people as well.
Be Italian For A Month is the first product I created, more than one year ago. As I have already explained here and here, it was born from the idea of giving people the opportunity to visit Italy without moving from home. The idea came to my mind after attending an online photography course, which was filled with prompts and things to do and experiences to make. Be Italian For A Month wants to be exactly the same: a way to experience Italy without leaving the comfort of your couch.
Well, it can also be a way to get ready to visit Italy – many people bought it before leaving for their trip, just to get a better idea of what the Italian culture was like. Or it can be a way for students of Italian to know more about the culture of the country. No matter how you want to see it, it will always be a virtual trip throughout Italy and its culture.
It lasts just one month, like the perfect dream trip to your dream country.
But sometimes, when you take a trip to a foreign country, you fall in love with it and want to stay. Has it ever happened to you? I’ve experienced it quite a few times, in many different countries: I wanted to know more of the country, dive deep into its culture, make more experiences, learn more of the language. Well, if you want to do such things, living one year in the country is probably the best way, but only a few people have the time and money to do so.
Some people who bought Be Italian For A Month wanted to keep living the experience and asked me for more. They didn’t want their journey to end, they wanted to stay – even virtually. They loved their one-month virtual tour and had a nice time getting to know a bit of the culture, but they felt there was so much more to learn and were willing to devote more time to it. This is why I decided to create Be Italian For A Year.
If Be Italian For A Month is a virtual journey to Italy, Be Italian For A Year is a virtual gap year in the country.
When you travel to a certain place and do not have much time, you tend to do things in a hurry. You want to see as much as you can, make experiences, learn new things, so your days are usually quite packed. On the other hand, if you know you are staying for a longer period, you take things slowly and do things at your own pace.
This is why Be Italian For A Year is a bit different from Be Italian For A Month. With Be Italian For A Month, you receive one email a day for 30 days (plus three bonus emails). Every day you make a new experience, take a virtual tour, learn something new about Italian culture, or get an Italian lesson. It’s quite a busy – but lovely – trip, as most of all journeys abroad are. With Be Italian For A Year, instead, you get only one email a week – every Friday – for 52 weeks. This is because getting an email a day for one year can be quite overwhelming.
“Which one should I choose?” you may now ask me.
Well, it depends. You can choose Be Italian For A Month if you want to take a virtual trip to Italy, a trip which is not too long but still gives you the opportunity of learning a bit about the culture. You can choose Be Italian For A Year if you really want to have a deeper experience with Italian culture and learn definitely more about it. Or you can always first try Be Italian For A Month and then extend your stay with Be Italian For A Year – which is discounted if you have already taken Be Italian For A Month!
