Saint John, San Giovanni in Italian, is the patron saint of many big and small Italian towns and this makes it a very special day. The day of the patron saint is a public holiday in Italy and this means that tomorrow many people will be taking a day off if the town where they work celebrates its patron saint.
I have been following today’s guest on Instagram for a long time and I knew she would be perfect for this section of the blog. Pree moved to Italy in 2020 and I have read her Instagram posts about the many challenges she had to face while moving to Italy during such a difficult time.
I love all the seasons but I have definitely a preference for summer and I want to use this post to celebrate the uniqueness of summer in Italy. Summer has some common traits everywhere but there are some peculiar things that belong to a specific country only, so today I’d love to list the Italian ones.

Every time, it is an opportunity for me to learn more and to see life in Italy through different eyes. When I began interviewing expats, it was because I didn’t want this blog to be too focused on my personal Italian-native experience and I wanted to offer a more accurate view of Italian life.
Today I am chatting again with someone who has decided to make Italy her home and this makes me really happy. I have had this section on my blog for years now and I still am super excited when I have the chance of chatting with an expat. It’s always a real pleasure for me!
Today I have the pleasure of interviewing one of my students, a lovely lady called Susan Dufresne. Susan lives in a place I had never heard of, a small town in Campania called Guardia Sanframondi, and the tales of her life there are so interesting that I asked her to share her experience.
