Visiting Rome can be quite expensive, especially if you love art and want to see museums and art galleries.

Museum admittance is not exactly cheap and there are so many works of art in the city that you can easily end up spending a fortune – totally worth it, but quite challenging if you are on a budget. However, as it often happens in Italy, there are some absolute gems that can be seen without spending a euro cent.

I don’t like traveling alone, I have to admit it.

I am a solitary person and I love spending time alone but when it comes to traveling, that’s a whole different story. If I travel alone, I tend to become anxious and feel the need to be with people. Moreover, when I visit a new place I really like to share what I see and feel with somebody else. [Read more…]

Carnival is a quintessential Italian festivity and there are a lot of festivals everywhere in the country at this time of the year.

Around mid-February, depending on when Carnival falls each year, every town – even the smallest one – celebrates Carnival. The most common way of doing it is having a parade with floats, music, and people wearing masks. People parade along the streets and then meet in the main city square for some frittelle (fritters) and drinks.

If you have been following me for a while, you may know how much I love Genoa and how hard I try to describe the city – and my region in general – from an authentic point of view.

You may remember my most recent post about the city, where I gave you a list of reasons not to miss it when you come to Italy, the one about a food tour to discover its delicacies, or another one about the oldest confectionery shop in Italy, which is in Genoa.

[Hidden Italy] Noli: A Small Town With A Long History

01/10/2019

The Italian Riviera offers a lot of interesting things to do. One of my favorite is visiting charming little villages and this post is about one of them. If you are thinking of places to see near Savona, inside the post you'll find all information about Noli, a picturesque village by the sea

Charming little villages are probably the best thing you can see in the Italian Riviera.

The sea is nice, the beach is lovely, the scenery is breathtaking but what makes the difference, really, are those little towns you find here and there, some by the sea, some perched on the hills above. They are what makes this area truly unique, in my opinion.

I can’t believe it took me so long to write about one of the Italian cities I love the most.

I have been writing this kind of posts for years now and I have included in this series some great Italian cities, like Torino, Trieste, Padova, and Parma, but I really can’t believe I haven’t included Genova in this list before.

I strongly believe in the power of letting things happen the way they are supposed to, lately.

I used to be a very organized person when it came to traveling. I prepared everything in detail, made a list of the things I wanted to see and do and tried to stick to the plan as much as I could. And obviously, I used to freak out when things changed, all of a sudden, as sometimes happens in life.

If you are a fan of Italy, you probably know le Langhe, a true Italian countryside gem.

Le Langhe – or Langa – is a hilly area in the south of Piedmont, in the province of Cuneo. The area is mostly known for its amazing wines – Barolo, Barbaresco, and Barbera mostly – and for its cheeses and truffles as well. Once a very poor countryside area, le Langhe has now become one of the richest areas in the country, thanks to the winemaking tradition and the hard work of its inhabitants.
