Summer has almost arrived and Sabrina is ready to go on holiday again!
If you read Un’estate al lago last summer, you might be waiting to know if Sabrina will meet Mark again. If you don’t know what I am talking about, let me just tell you that a new book to practice Italian over the summer is out today.
Last year I wrote Un’estate al lago, a YA book that tells the story of Sabrina, a 17-year-old girl who goes on holiday to Lake Garda with her family and writes down all her adventures in her beloved diary. The holidays at Lake Garda are a chance for Sabrina to meet new people, find new friends, and do a lot of fun stuff.
In the book, you can read Sabrina’s stories and practice Italian because exercises focus on grammar, vocabulary, writing, and reading comprehension. Also, Un’estate al lago is a way to learn more about Lake Garda and its surroundings, as the book has some chapters about this area, and to discover some fun aspects of Italian pop culture.
I had a lot of fun writing Un’estate al lago and many students loved the book, so I thought I would write about Sabrina again. One year has gone and a lot can happen in the life of a now 18-year-old. Sabrina definitely had some ups and downs but now she is facing a real “tragedy”: her parents decided to skip Lake Garda this year and go on holiday somewhere else!
“Quest’anno andiamo al mare!” is what her mother said. So Sabrina packs her bags and goes to Sardinia with her parents. Needless to say, she brings her diary with her, ready to record all her adventures in this new, completely unknown location. Andiamo al mare!, my new Italian practice book, is an account of Sabrina’s holidays in Sardinia but it is also a great way to practice Italian.
Like Un’estate al lago, Andiamo al mare! is divided into 9 chapters. Each chapter is a diary entry by Sabrina and is followed by exercises on grammar, vocabulary, writing, and reading comprehension. At the end of each chapter, you’ll find a section about Italian culture, especially that of the 90s. There are also some chapters about Sardinia, so that you’ll learn more about a stunningly beautiful Italian island!
To give you the chance to practice listening, there are also audio files of each chapter. And to make it even more fun, I have created a dedicated playlist with some cool Italian music from the ’90s. Finally, I have set up an email account to discuss the book. If you have questions or ideas or want to share your thoughts about Sabrina and her adventures at Lake Garda, you can email me using the account you’ll find in the book – in Italian, of course! This could be a great way to chat about the book together!
You will find all the details about the book and the link to purchase it on the specific page called Andiamo al mare! If you have questions or doubts, send me an email or just leave a comment here!
